Electromagnetic waves refer to a type of wave that is created by the acceleration of electric charges. These waves consist of both an electric field and a magnetic field, which oscillate perpendicular to each other and to the direction of wave propagation. Electromagnetic waves are responsible for transmitting energy through space, such as light or radio waves, and they can be reflected, refracted, or absorbed by different materials in much the same way that sound waves interact with matter.
